Adventure Playground Case Study
COMMERCIAL CASE STUDY: ADVENTURE PLAYGROUNDS
CUSTOMER: CATTLE COUNTRY FARM PARK
Following a call to Cattle Country, PlayAhead found that the owners were looking to replace some older adventure playground equipment. A design consultation meeting then took place. The owners had already decided that they wanted to replace their existing equipment with a castle themed adventure playground. PlayAhead were asked to put together a design that would incorporate a replacement zip-wire.
PlayAhead put together drawings for a castle themed adventure playground with a footprint of 13 x 15 metres.
The castle consists of 1.8 metre battlements that weave around the outside wall of the castle (in total 46 metres of battlements!). It also has three floors, with two floors that people can run around in, one of these being a covered floor which has a cloistered area.

A bridge leads from corner octagonal towers to a central keep which is over 6 metres high and gives views across the surrounding countryside.
Other design elements include a log bridge, clatter bridge, 5 metre inclined net crawl bridge, a rectangular gatehouse, a climbing wall which gives access to the battlements and a 50 metre zip-wire.
Elsewhere in the park PLAYahead were also commissioned to install the biggest scramble net in the UK, measuring 10 metres x 13 metres wide, along with further bridges.
Following design approval, the castle and associated adventure playground equipment was built and installed on site within 10 weeks.
