Assault Courses Case Study
COMMERCIAL CASE STUDY: ASSAULT COURSES
CUSTOMER: PGL ADVENTURE HOLIDAYS
PGL run supervised activity holidays that are attended by schools, groups and families.
Following a meeting with the UK manager of PGL, PlayAhead was briefed to work on the renovation of an aged assault course which was situated at a PGL centre based in Marchant’s Hill, Hampshire.
The customer wanted PlayAhead’s opinion on the renovation of the assault course and advice on new, exciting pieces of apparatus that could be incorporated for use in wet and dry conditions.
After design consultation, PlayAhead put together ideas for a host of apparatus including balance beams, scramble nets and up-and-over walls that could be used in all conditions.
It took 6 weeks from design approval for the equipment to be built and installed.
Subsequent to this successful renovation, PlayAhead were contacted again regarding a new PGL site that was being built on an old golf course in Sussex.
The customer wanted to build an assault course that incorporated some of the same equipment that had been built for the Hampshire site but also wanted ideas for apparatus that was new, unique and exciting.
PlayAhead designed and built a tyre crawl, balance beams, a tyre traverse, a swinging log bridge, a 3D spiders web, a rope swing and double up-and-over walls with a linking balance beam as a feature piece.
It took 8 weeks from design approval for the equipment to be built and installed.
