Who are we?
PlayAhead is an owner-managed business with over 30 year’s experience within the outdoor activity sector.
This background and wealth of expertise enables us to create spectacular outdoor playgrounds incorporating playground equipment such as playground shelters and benches, boats and trains, playground swings and springers, climbing frames, adventure playgrounds and assault courses for commercial customers including private enterprises, local authority clients, schools, playgroups and recreation grounds.
A UK service
PlayAhead’s head office and manufacturing facility is based in Gloucestershire. The company provides bespoke design and installation of timber outdoor playground equipment and outdoor adventure play equipment to commercial customers throughout the UK.
Safety is paramount
Over the past 30 years, and through our experience in the outdoor adventure education market, PlayAhead has worked with children of all ages on activities such as climbing, abseiling and adventure days. As a consequence of this, ensuring children’s safety whilst they have a great time playing on our bespoke timber play equipment comes as second nature.
- PlayAhead ensure all playground equipment is designed, manufactured and installed to BS EN 1176 and BS EN 1177
- PlayAhead use and can advise on all types of safety surfacing, from bark chips to wetpour, which comply with British Standards EN 1177 and are suitable for commercial environments.

The sites where we have installed outdoor timber playground equipment such as climbing frames, playground shelters, playground swings, play towers, climbing walls and assault courses have ranged from overgrown wooded banks to tarmac playgrounds and grassy playing fields.

A consultative approach
Our consultative approach means that we would be happy, and prefer, to come and see you to discuss the outdoor adventure play equipment that you would like installed. We will fully evaluate your needs and, if required, will design something new and novel for you.
